A Dancer in Central Park, and the Weekly Photo Challenge: Dance

Walking through the park one evening a couple of weeks ago, we happened to see this dancer performing —

See that little pink jacket entering from the left?

Little Pink Jacket joins in — I think we have a future ballerina here.

Backing up for a long view, just to put this in perspective —

Ballerina in Central Park

Early Spring evening…

As much as I loved taking a travel break, not to mention getting my yearly New York art-fix, at first I felt a little guilty about running away from my house-tasks. The great sorting-out of “stuff” weighs heavier as time goes by. But, backing up for a little perspective on that issue too — traveling helps me remember that life is not about the “stuff”.

I’m finally acknowledging that it’s taking me way too long to dig out, so I’m doing what I can to speed up passing out the stuff, and free up life for living.

I think that’s worth a happy-dance of my own, don’t you?

    • Yes, really hard — this week I’m doing a big liberation of books. I took a trunkload to the library yesterday and have at least that many more ready to go. (still just the tip of the iceberg though)

  1. “I’m finally acknowledging that it’s taking me way too long to dig out, so I’m doing what I can to speed up passing out the stuff, and free up life for living.” LOVE THIS: “free up life for living”. I think I shall print out your sentence and put it up as a reference. It has taken me far too long to dig out… and you are so right, its time to clear it out. I know that you enjoy your life with many opportunities but this ‘stuff’ truly does bog us down!

I really enjoy the variety of your posts. The Central Park ballerina(s) were so sweet. I’ve never been inside Central Park, was in New York once with my sister, but we never went into the park. I think that must be a very special place to visit.

Keep on keeping on!! My lives-in-another-state sister is taking her school (teacher) spring break to come help me next week. I have had some unexpected health issues that brought a reality check to all of us. She is a very understanding sister to be willing to help me with my overly-stuffed stuff!!

    • So good to hear from you, and thanks for reading. I had some health issues this last year too, and I know it really is a wake-up call to re-evaluate priorities. I’ve been guilty of lapsing back into my old ways, though, and have to keep fighting that. It’s wonderful that you have your sister to help. I think one mistake I’ve made is that I’ve found it hard to delegate, and too often refused help when offered. I hope you feel better soon, and good luck (to both of us) on freeing up our lives.
