2016’s Castleberry Hill Loft Tour, Coming Up Oct 22 (and the Weekly Photo Challenge: Local)

Atlanta locals, take note. It’s almost time for this year’s Castleberry Hill Loft Tour. Meanwhile, just for inspiration, here’s a mini-photo-tour from last year…

I love the rhyming lines in the stair railing and the chair backs.

A great idea for displaying a collection of vinyl…

Can you tell the owner here also runs an art gallery?

Another view — art? mannequin? hat-rack?

Welcome now to more signs of my obsession with stairways…

Down one more stairway and out — back soon for this year’s tour.

Revisiting last year’s tour is wake-up call for me; I see that yet another year has passed and I still haven’t finished downsizing. If I’m going to get out of my house and find a new home in a condo, apartment, or loft by this time next year I’m going to have to focus. Meanwhile, on Saturday I’ll get another look at Castleberry Hill — an historic intown neighborhood,  interior brick walls, stairway angles, tall ceilings and gallery walls — all very appealing.

What do you think? Doesn’t a loft look like a great alternative?

  1. Very artsy and neat loft. You can use this as inspiration to declutter. Have a good Saturday. It is always nice to see the interior of another’s place. Always fascinating 🙂

    • I do love the art. Also, how everyone dresses their home for show, like “staging” to sell. And you’re right, seeing others’ places really is fascinating – and it lets me imagine moving. Thanks for the good wishes – I hope you have a good Saturday too, and, now that I think of it, you’re already having it!

  3. I like the stairways, too, and the bones of that place, but some of the art might overwhelm me on a daily basis! Is this someone’s actual home, or do different people come and decorate as in a showcase house? (I’m thinking the former as you referred to the owner.) Good luck on your continuing clean-out; from what I can tell, you are doing a great job whether or not it’s as fast as you had hoped! (P.S. I remember Kathy Simmons’s story about her mom. I am a similar whisking-away type; while you may feel you have too much, I am always throwing things away and realizing later I needed them! 🙂 )

    • The big place with the gallery-walls (photos 4,5, and 8), it’s a home, not a showcase house — and yes, me too, and overwhelming might be an understatement. The gallery is next door. We’re getting ready now to go see the ones that are open this year. I love homes tours! As for throwing things away and realizing later that you need them – I’ve kept way too many things on the theory that I’ll use them before the time comes to move. Bob’s hoard of cleaning supplies springs to mind (and my old clothes). I just read Kathy Simmons’ story – I would have loved to meet her mom! I’m reminded that I really need to speed up my whisking-away.
