Nothing contributes to a little outdoor ambience like a 70-degree weekend. Out for a walk last Sunday, I finally stopped to appreciate the design of this raised walkway in Piedmont Park…
Looking back, and back again ….
And here’s a little Atlanta Beltline ambience from Saturday…
And on the home front: outdoor ambience from yesterday. This squirrel found something tasty on the rim of a flower pot in my back yard. This pot-licking went on for several minutes.
Or maybe it was some kind of new squirrel-yoga?
Of course warm days in January can affect our feelings in less positive ways too — waking thoughts of climate change. There’s always a niggling fear beneath the delight with warmer temperatures. But this is the South, so there’s some chance it’s not that unusual. I’m hoping it’s just what we Mid-westerners used to call the “January Thaw”.

P.S. – what should I be feeding that squirrel?
If it’s a native squirrel, they generally like corn and nuts.
Last week I gave them a package of mixed nuts found when pantry-cleaning (they went fast) – maybe flower-pot licking serves as dessert?
When you gave them the mixed nuts, did they go for sweet or savoury? 😀
They were the kind that were already shelled, and savoury. There are lots of squirrels in the yards here, so I hope I didn’t provoke any warfare. And there are many oak trees, so they do have bushels of acorns to choose from too — no squirrels will be starving here any time soon!
WOW, I adore the squirrel photos. (Aren’t they hoarders??) LOL
Oh, you are absolutely right! How did I miss that? (my little back yard inspirations)
Must say I had a little smile to myself over it. Takes a hoarder to know a hoarder and all that!
Yes! We need to stick together. — still trying to divest myself of “stuff” though, going strong on eBay the next couple of weeks, hoping to make enough to pay the painter for my room project.
I take my hat off to you!
Be careful now, I might grab it and list it on eBay (just kidding — but, I did list my nice wool mittens)
Wool mittens, how could you?
Ah, long story. I think I will repent and see if my niece would wear them. (they are beautiful and handmade) I just didn’t wear them because they were too pretty, and also because I prefer fingerless gloves, first for working in cold computer-rooms but now for being camera-ready. Do you wear mittens?
Oh I don’t buy that argument about things being too pretty to wear/use.
Actually, I don’t wear gloves or mittens. I just lose them so there’s no point.
… and you live in paradise, where you likely don’t need them. (These are creamy white wool — what was I thinking?)
